when to take

With breakfast or your morning coffee, at the same time each day. A daily habit matters more than the hour.

what's inside

Hericium erinaceus fruiting body, 350 mg per capsule as an 8:1 dual extract (2,800 mg dried-mushroom equivalent), 51.78% polysaccharides. Capsule: hypromellose.

read the label What 8:1 means: eight kilograms of fruiting body go into every kilogram of this extract. That is why a 350 mg capsule carries a 2,800 mg whole-mushroom equivalent, the number printed on the label. Short answers below.

short answers

What does 8:1 mean?

Eight kilograms of dried lion's mane fruiting body are concentrated into one kilogram of extract. Each 350 mg capsule therefore holds the equivalent of 2,800 mg of whole mushroom, which is what the label states.

Lion's mane 1:1 or 8:1, which one is for me?

The 1:1 is the whole fruiting body, hot-water extracted and not concentrated. The 8:1 is a dual extract concentrated eight times, which also concentrates compounds such as hericenones. Many people take both; the ultimate lion's mane bundle has all three formats.

Fruiting body or mycelium?

Fruiting body only. The fruiting body is the mushroom itself. Mycelium is the root-like network it grows from, usually cultivated on grain, and mycelium products often contain that grain. There is no mycelium, grain or filler in a Purana capsule.

How and when do I take it?

One capsule once daily, with food. Most people take it with breakfast.

Is this licensed in Canada?

Yes. Licensed by Health Canada, NPN 80108521. The licensed use is as a source of fungal polysaccharides with immunomodulating properties.

What is in the capsule besides the extract?

The extract, and a hypromellose capsule shell (plant-derived, vegan). No fillers, flow agents or additives.

Can I take it with medications?

Talk with your health care practitioner before starting any supplement, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking medication, or managing a health condition.

Natural health products licensed by Health Canada are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Benefits of lion's mane

Why take lion's mane?

- to boost cognitive performance and neurological health
- to support a healthy cardiovascular system
- to strengthen the immune system

Lion's mane mushroom is a natural and caffeine-free way to support mental fatigue and brain fog, improving concentration and productivity. It helps with energy because it contains compounds that support cognitive function - called hericenones and erinacines. These compounds are metabolized by the body into nerve growth factor, a protein that plays an important role in brain health.

Nerve growth factor (NGF) helps to support your cognitive function as it strengthens connections between neurons (brain cells). It also supports the formation of new brain cells. Additionally, NGF helps to protect your brain from age-related damage.

Lion's mane mushroom is also a great way to support cardiovascular health. It contains compounds that help keep blood vessels healthy and functioning properly. These compounds are called polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are a type of carbohydrate that is known for their beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system. They help to improve blood flow and reduce inflammation.

Lion's mane also supports the immune system. It contains compounds called beta-glucans, which are known for their immune-boosting properties. Beta-glucans have been shown to stimulate the immune system by activating certain white blood cells called macrophages, which help fight off infections. The immune-boosting properties of lion's mane mushroom may help you stay healthy during cold and flu season.
